LifeNet International (LN) seeks to transform African healthcare by providing nurse training, management training, growth financing, and pharmaceutical supply to primary healthcare facilities in Burundi, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since launching Burundi operations in 2012 with 10 health center partners, by the fourth quarter of 2016, LN’s partner network has expanded to include 84 health facilities, with 53 in Burundi, 19 in Uganda, and 12 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These facilities saw a combined 217,000 patients in the 3rd quarter of 2016. LN and Global Emergency Care Collaborative (GECC) are jointly working to add emergency care training as one of LN’s primary offerings. The program, funded by a 3-year Challenge Grant from AllPeopleBeHappy foundation, will initially train LN nurse trainers in GECC’s training hospital in Masaka, Uganda, then the trainers will be training nurses in emergency care throughout LN’s partner facilities.
