A Project Grant of $7,900 has been awarded to Green Empowerment for a project entitled “Improved Sanitation for Pueblo Amado, Jinotega, Nicaragua.” Currently, 60% of the 100 households in the village of Pueblo Amado have no access to a latrine. The latrines that are available were built more than 10 years ago and are in significant disrepair. The project involves the building and installing of 100 ventilated latrines, and conducting workshops to provide hygiene and sanitation training to the community. The total cost of this project, benefiting 650 people, is budgeted to be $46,257, with the balance of the funds coming primarily from the Christadelphian Meal-a-Day Fund of the Americas and the Jonas Family Foundation.
