For the 9th year in a row, a Project Grant of $10,000 has been awarded to Kossoye Development Program (KDP) for their agricultural projects in Ethiopia. In 2016, KDP distributed 74,000 seed packets, organized horticulture workshops for 1,374 people, managed 3 storage facilities, and employed 70 Ethiopians. The 2017 AllPeopleBeHappy grant is being used to develop a sustainable vegetable seed market in northern Ethiopia. Of the $10,000, $7,000 is being used to purchase locally produced vegetable seeds, and $3,000 is being used to support a seed sellers’ initiative to sell seeds at kiosks in rural market towns. KDP is planning to distribute 100,000 seed packets in 2017.
