2018 is the second year of our 3-year $120,000 Challenge Grant awarded to a joint project of Global Emergency Care (GEC) and LifeNet International (LN). The project utilizes the emergency care training capability of GEC to train the nurse-trainers of LN. LifeNet International currently partners with 125 health facilities in Burundi, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Malawi, training personnel in these facilities on medical issues (nursing care, safe babies, safe mothers, pediatrics) and financial management (pricing, service, resource, pharmacy). Thus far, Global Emergency Care has trained 16 LN nurse-trainers at its emergency care training center at Masaka Regional Hospital in Uganda.
