The AllPeopleBeHappy foundation has awarded a $10,000 Project Grant in sustainable agriculture to Clinica Verde. Clínica Verde’s teaches families biointensive gardening methods for planting home gardens that produce high yield nutritious vegetables and legumes to increase food security and support health. The program will focus on families in Boaco, Nicaragua and its surrounding rural communities, an area 55 miles northeast of the capital city of Managua, within the Dry Corridor of Central America which has suffered from ten years of drought and water shortages. Families will learn about the complete cycle of food production from planting seeds to harvesting new seed; global warming; environmental protection; organic food; local production of native seed; and nutrition. Over this and next year, Clinica Verde will teach 50 families to use biointensive gardening methods to establish 50 3-beds home gardens.
