Ryan Brandt, recipient of an AllPeopleBeHappy Fellowship, worked from July 2013 to June 2014, to enhanced emergency medicine in Uganda for Global Emergency Care Collaborative (GECC). Initially, he began working as a research assistant responsible for maintaining all current research protocols and patient data collection at the Karoli Lwanga Hospital in Nyakibale, Uganda. In January of 2014, he was promoted to Program Director in charge of coordinating the training of GECC’s fourth class of ECPs (Emergency Care Practitioner). He also helped to initiate the Karoli Lwanga Clubfoot Initiative; with this life changing treatment, patients can grow up to live a normal life, including walking, playing football, and working.
