Micah Gregory, a 2013-2014 AllPeopleBeHappy Fellow, is working for Amazide in Brazil on forming a multi-disciplinary health team to provide oversight for the Amizade volunteers coming to Brazil to participate in its programs. He has been traveling on the Amazon River on the N/M Abaré, an advanced floating hospital ship owned by the Dutch non-profit Terre des Hommes, helping to provide healthcare services to villagers along the river. He has also established partnerships with the Brazilian health NGO Asas de Socorro, and the municipal health agencies in Santarém and Belterra, to coordinate a joint land-based community health program for communities deep in the Tapajos National Forest.
