Sam Kayongo (Amizade)
Sam Kayongo, a 2013-2014 AllPeopleBeHappy Fellow, is the Site Director for Amizade in the Karagwe District of Tanzania. He was instrumental in helping to implement the Ota Initiative, a 2-week holiday session education camp for young learners. The first such camp in December of 2013, with 1 head teacher and 5 group leaders, engaged 25 students in art projects, science experiments, leadership discussions, and creative-thinking games. Sam visited the US (Washington DC, Pittsburgh, and University of West Virginia) in March of 2014 to gain more knowledge about cultural differences between US and Tanzania in order to better host the young US volunteers of Amizade when they execute their assignments in Tanzania.
