Project Alianza has progressed on the implementation of their goals this past quarter by completing the following activities: 1) Held 3 Education Festivals in nearby communities La Fundadora, Finca la Aurora, and Finca el Paraiso to promote education in the community. These events help to enhance collaboration among community leaders, farm owners, parents and teachers; 2) Held regular meetings with curriculum development and teacher training team members, and hosted community-wide training sessions for teachers in the Rural Educators Network in coffee growing regions of Jinotega and Matagalpa; and 3) Hosted workshops for parents with partner coffee farm, Finca La Aurora, in the community of La Fundadora, and in La Esperanza in Jinotega.
These meetings focused on the following five components: (a) gender equality and machismo, (b) learning in the natural environment including school gardens, using natural elements, and using recyclables in classrooms, (c) health and hygiene, (d) self-regulation, and (e) self-esteem.
