Comunidad Connect (CC), works in Nicaragua facilitating access to healthcare and clean drinking water, and participates in community development using organized sports and service learning. A $10,000 grant from AllPeopleBeHappy foundation is funding a two-year project to bring clean water to 2,000 people in the rural community of San Esteban, Nicaragua. This is being done by providing families with a simple, locally made, affordable, ceramic water filter. Household members are asked to volunteer a total of 16 hours on local community projects, such as road repair and park and school improvements, in addition to attending the required training workshops, in order to receive a ceramic water filter. This project addresses persistent health problems in the community, including diarrhea and intestinal parasites, caused by water-borne pathogens.
