Malayaka House is an orphanage in Entebbe, Uganda. Their program includes some interesting, entrepreneurial aspects. For instance they run a homemade cheese business and pizza restaurant, a craft shop, small farm, guest house, and an organic coffee business. They also encourage vocational training by enrolling children in electronics repair and bio-gas installation programs outside of their facility. The $5,000 project grant from AllPeopleBeHappy in 2013-2014 funded a reintegration program for 11 physically or emotionally traumatized youths. Five youths, age 8 to 13. are being homeschooled at the orphanage; two youths, Ismail (age 7, deaf) and Mary (age 12, epilepsy) are being taught at a special school for handicapped children; 3 youths (age 12-15) are going back to school after dropping out; and Paulo (age 16) is undergoing vocational training, and being paid a monthly stipend.
